Membership in the American Legion is open to ANY VETERAN of the US military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, & Coast Guard) who served a minimum of 1 day on”active duty” and was honorably discharged. Members of the National Guard or Active Reserves qualify if their unit was ever “mobilized” or they spent their “basic training” at a “regular military” training installation (boot camp). The time period began on December 7, 1941 and will terminate when U.S. Congress declares an “end to hostilities”.

We’ll need a copy of your DD-214 separation document or other documentation. If you can’t locate a copy please ask us for instructions on how to request a copy from the National Records Center.

Begin the procedure by clicking here: Membership Application
